Overview: Evangelical Free Church of Sudan (EFCS) has been a Mission ONE partner since 1992. EFCS’s ministry includes evangelism, church planting, and leadership training. Their activities include “replanting” the church in South Sudan after decades of civil war, encouraging pastors, children's ministry, praying for the sick, Bible study, Sunday school, and vocational/theological training for church leaders.
EFCS is led by Severino Maira Janus. Severino is the co-founder of the Evangelical Free Church in his country. Mission ONE president, Bob Schindler, met Severino on his first mission trip to Africa in 1988 while Severino was a student at Moffat College of the Bible in Kijabe, Kenya. Severino had a strong call and passion to take the Word of God back into his war-torn country regardless of the risk to his own life. He is now mentoring young men to follow Christ with that same kind of commitment.
