Women’s conference in Thailand a huge blessing and encouragement
“During our most recent mission trip to Thailand in October 2007, Mission ONE hosted a women’s retreat for 17 pastor’s wives from Thailand and southeast Asia. For many of these precious women it was their very first time to get away without family and responsibilities for a time of refreshment, renewal, fun and fellowship. We went to a resort near the Mekong River. It was a perfect setting.
“One thing I see as we travel overseas is that women are the same everywhere. We want to be loved, feel safe — and as one of our friends said, ‘we want to be pampered.’
“We laughed, we cried, we were treated to massages. For most of us it was a first! We prayed, we sang, we slept, we ate good food. We spent time alone with the Lord, we shared our favorite verses and how God had used them in our lives.
“As we left that beautiful setting we gathered as a group on some steps leading down to the river, and one by one, the women tossed a rock into the river — symbolizing what we were surrendering to the Lord. We all joined in singing a Thai worship song about trusting in God for our tomorrows. ‘It was the Lord’s doing and it was marvelous in our eyes’” (Psalm 118:23).
