Mike Floyd joins Mission ONE as Vice President of International Partnerships

Having spent the last four years serving with Wycliffe Bible Translators, Mike Floyd joined Mission ONE on November 1, 2007. In his role as Vice President of International Partnerships, he will focus on fund-raising for Mission ONE’s indigenous ministry partners. Mike and his wife Lori have three children: Jadon, Grace, and Christian.

Mission ONE President Bob Schindler says, “Mike Floyd has the special combination of… a calling from God for missions… the spiritual gifts of leadership and administration… and strong professional skills and experience. There is no doubt in our minds that God has led Mike and Lori Floyd to serve with us. We are so grateful.”

The Board of Directors of Mission ONE began a search in early 2007 for a key hire who could join the leadership team. Mike’s passion is catalytic leadership and administration. The Mission ONE staff and Board of Directors are delighted to have Mike on the team.

Before his time with Wycliffe, Mike spent eight years in the corporate world. He graduated with an MBA from Arizona State University in 2000.

44% increase in FY 2007 of Mission ONE support for indigenous ministry partners

For Fiscal Year 2007, overall Mission ONE gifts to our ministry partners in Africa and Asia increased by 44%. Support for project and special needs overseas rose 175%! Praise the Lord. To see details about 2007 Mission ONE ministry accomplishements, click here to download a copy of the Mission ONE Thanksgiving Report for Fiscal Year 2007.

These numbers represent ministry in Africa and Asia among oppressed and needy peoples—which means lost people saved, churches planted, hungry people fed, destitute women empowered, orphans cared for, leaders trained, and communities transformed because of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. These numbers also represent answers to prayer—often desperate prayers—for God’s provision.

Since 1991, Mission ONE has supported more than 400 national missionaries who have reported more than 107,000 professions of faith, and over 3,100 churches planted.

Women’s conference in Thailand a huge blessing and encouragement

Linda Schindler writes, "During our most recent mission trip to Thailand in October 2007, Mission ONE hosted a women’s retreat for 17 pastor’s wives from Thailand and southeast Asia. For many of these precious women it was their very first time to get away without family and responsibilities for a time of refreshment, renewal, fun and fellowship. We went to a resort near the Mekong River. It was a perfect setting.

“One thing I see as we travel overseas is that women are the same everywhere. We want to be loved, feel safe — and as one of our friends said, ‘we want to be pampered.’

“We laughed, we cried, we were treated to massages. For most of us it was a first! We prayed, we sang, we slept, we ate good food. We spent time alone with the Lord, we shared our favorite verses and how God had used them in our lives.

“As we left that beautiful setting we gathered as a group on some steps leading down to the river, and one by one, the women tossed a rock into the river — symbolizing what we were surrendering to the Lord. We all joined in singing a Thai worship song about trusting in God for our tomorrows. ‘It was the Lord’s doing and it was marvelous in our eyes’” (Psalm 118:23).
